Many shampoos and other hair care products contain ingredients which are harmful to the scalp and hair follicles and may cause hair loss. For example:

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate/SLS* and Sodium Laureth Sulfate
Cleansing agents which cause drying and irritate skin and hair folicles, especially when used in high concentrations as it is in most soaps and shampoos available, Propylene Glycol* (skin irritant conditioner), Diazolidinyl Urea* (formaldehyde releasing preservative), Polyquaternium (formaldehyde releasing conditioner).

HairPrime® products do not use these and other harsh ingredients as they may cause irritation and inflammation to the hair follicles resulting in hair loss.

Propylene Glycol*
Indicated in studies to cause irritation and dermatitis.

Diazolidinyl Urea*
A preservative that is indicated to cause skin irritation and may release formaldehyde.

Quaternium Compounds*
Conditioning agents which may cause skin irritation and dermatitis and a formaldehyde releaser.

  • It is recommended that all 3 HairPrime® products (shampoo, lotion and scalp primer) be used compliantly (i.e. according to instructions) and continuously for at least 4 months to notice whether or not the products are effective in your particular case and 6 months to 1 year to achieve the optimum results before reducing the regimen to maintain what you have achieved. If after 4 months of compliant use you do not notice that your daily hair loss (i.e. counting the amount of hairs that fall out) has significantly decreased, then the program may not be working for you.
